A one-year-old baby girl miraculously survived the deadly crash yesterday in the Karak district when the bus driver lost control while overtaking a 22-wheeler trailer-truck at a sharp bend on the Indus Highway at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Four children and as many women were among those killed in the accident, Express Tribune quoted District Police Officer Sajjad Khan as saying.
The official blamed the bus driver, who is also among the fatalities, for the accident. The truck driver had fled the scene.
"We have started investigation and will soon reveal who was responsible for the tragedy," Khan said.
One or two fatal accidents take place every week at Kaniza Speena Turn on the highway as drivers while descending usually lose control of their vehicle, he said.
