The drivers of Puthur Bus depot today went on a flash strike after a driver set himself ablaze when he was asked to continue duty though he said he was not keeping well, police said.

Police said Senthilkumar, working in the depot of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, had completed his duty and was preparing to go home last night when the Manager Dayalakrishnan reportedly asked him to continue work and drive a bus to Tiruchirappalli. But he said he could not as he was not well leading to an altercation, police said.

The driver then poured petrol over his body and set himself ablaze. However, other drivers rushed in and doused the fire. Senthilkumar suffered minor burns and was admitted to hospital, police said.

Crew members who came to know about incident this morning went on a flash strike to protest the manager's attitude.

Officials held talks with the crew who withdrew their strike after three hours.
