Bus mows down minor boy in Gurgaon

An 11-year-old boy was today mowed down by a speeding private bus in Gehroli village here triggering protest by locals on Gurgaon-Pataudi road, police said.

The protestors disrupted the traffic on the road for over five hours causing inconvenience to the commuters.

The incident occurred at 7 am when Rupesh, a class VI student, was waiting at an intersection to cross the road on his way to school, police said.

The boy was run over by the bus following which its driver fled the spot, leaving the vehicle behind, ACP (PRO) Hawa Singh said, adding the bus has been impounded.
 

Following the incident, irate locals vandalized the bus and raised slogans against police and district administration.

They also disrupted the vehicular movement on the Gurgaon-Pataudi road for over five hours by keeping the body of the minor on it.

The movement could only be resumed after senior police officers assured of arresting the accused driver, Singh said.

A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against the accused driver, he said, adding that a manhunt is on to nab him.
