Press Trust of India Srinagar
The business community in both the regions of Jammu and Kashmir today condemned the attack on a truck in Udhampur district on Friday which had left three persons injured, and demanded stern action against those behind it.

"We vehemently condemn the attacks on innocent truckers by politically-motivated goons and effective action should be taken by the government to curb them with a heavy hand," president Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry Rakesh Gupta told reporters here.

Gupta demanded that the government should immediately act and trace the "culprits and the disruptive elements" and punish them "before it is too late".

"We want very stringent action against the culprits and government should also identify the people or the agencies behind such acts," he said.

He said the "unabated politically motivated" attacks on truckers were bound to spell doom on all walks of life throughout the state unless curbed with a heavy hand.

He said both the Chambers will fight all such elements jointly who want to dilute the identity of Jammu and Kashmir.
