The Sikkim government has called for a concerted effort of various agencies to make the state's 'Organic Mission' a success.
Collaborative efforts of various agencies like NABARD, ICAR, SICB, SIMFED, Sikkim University and Silkkim Milk are also required for the purpose, Additional Chief Secretary S C Gupta told a high-level meeting here yesterday.
He laid thrust on three major areas namely Input Management, Collection Management, and Output Management to lend a systematic approach to the 'Sikkim Organic Mission'.

He directed the UD&HD Department to submit figures of the total quantity of city wastes generated in Sikkim and the assessment of portion of which could be segregated as organic compost.
Joint Director ICAR Dr R K Awasthy gave technical inputs about organic nutrients and assured continuous technical support to the Mission.
Managing Director NABARD informed about the assistance it has been giving to farmer clubs in villages as part of its corporate social responsibility.
