Ten close circuit automatic cameras were today deployed in Bannari forest range in Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve (STR) to capture movement of a leopard after carcasses of two goats were found in the area, officials said.

Following complaints from farmers that two goats were missing, forest officials swung into action and found the carcasses.

Officials found teeth and nail mark on the carcasses and came to the conclusion that a leopard was on the prowl in the area.

Arun, Joint Director of STR, wanted people to be careful and ordered that the cameras be placed at vantage points. If necessary, they would place a cage to trap the animal, he added.
