The Canada-India Friendship Day was celebrated today in the Canadian High Commission here with the theme "celebrating the girl child".
The colourful event was marked by kite-flying, face-painting and a "best dressed" competition featuring the national colours of both countries.
Underprivileged girls receiving assistance from NGOs were invited as special guests to the event.
On the occasion, the High Commissioner for Canada to India, Stewart Beck, said "just as we celebrate India's freedom, democracy, equality and rule of law on August 15, on Canada-India friendship Day we celebrate these same values which are cherished by both our countries.
