Press Trust of India  |  New Delhi

prices surged 4 per cent to hit an upper circuit at Rs 914.50 per kg in futures trading today as participants built up huge positions amid pick-up in demand.

Tight stocks position on fall in arrivals from growing regions also supported the upside.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, for delivery in July was trading higher by Rs 35.10, or 4 per cent, to hit an upper limit at Rs 914.50 per kg in a business turnover of 51 lots.

For August, the spice traded higher by Rs 26.30, or 3 per cent, to Rs 903.70 per kg with trading volume of just 3 lots.
