Cardamom futures fall 1.60 pc on profit-booking

Cardamom prices fell by 1.60 per cent to Rs 1,025 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits amid sluggish demand in the spot market.

Adequate stocks position in the physical market on increased supplies from producing belts also put pressure on cardamom prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in far-month March fell Rs 18.30, or 1.60 per cent to Rs 1,125 per kg in business turnover of 155 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in February contracts declined by Rs 9.40, or 0.91 per cent to Rs 1023.90 per kg in 590 lots.

Analysts said besides profit booking by speculators, subdued demand against increased in the spot market also influenced cardamom prices in futures trade.
