Cardamom rises on pick up in demand

Cardamom prices rose by Rs 5 per

Kg in an otherwise steady local kirana market today on the back of pick up in demand supported by ongoing wedding season.

Marketmen said pick up in demand in view of marriage season amid lower arrivals from producing belts mainly led to rise in cardamom prices.

In the national capital, cardamom small, chitridar, colour robin, bold and extra-bold were up by Rs 5 each to Rs 655-755,Rs 605-705, Rs 655-705 and Rs 805-905 per kg respectively.

The following are today's quotations per quintal:

Ajwain 13,500-18,500, black pepper (per kg) 520-650, betel-nut (kg) 180-200, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,000-1,090 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,150-1,270.
 

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 655-755, cardamom (colour robin) 605-705, cardamom bold 655-705, cardamom extra (bold) 805-905 and cloves (kg) 850-920.
