A student union leader in Rajasthan was allegedly found cooking and consuming antelope meat today in the union office, police said.

When the police and forest department raided the student union office of Jai Narayan Vyas University to collect the samples of the meat remains, union president Ravindra Singh Ranawat allegedly refused to give the sample and forced them to leave the office, police said.

"We received information from the Bishnoi Tiger Vanya Evam Paryavaran Sansthan that some students including the student union president of the Jai Narayan Vyas University Ravindra Singh Ranawat were cooking and consuming the meat of an antelope in the student union office of the university," ACF (Wildlife) Mahak Ram Bishnoi said.

He said that they rushed to the spot and enquired from them about the matter however they refused that it was the meat of an antelope and said that it was a goat meat.

"But when they were asked to provide sample, they refused and forced us out of the office," Bishnoi said, adding that it cannot be proved without testing of the sample that it was an antelope.

The DFO (Wildlife) Mohit K Nigam said that since there was no evidence as of yet that the meat was of an antelope, a case has been registered against the student union president for causing interference in government duty and destroying evidence.
