Several officials of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) department in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district were today booked for allegedly cheating and causing a loss of Rs 2.80 lakh to the state exchequer between 2005 to 2011.

State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) registered the case against the then Tehsil Supply Officers and storekeepers of the department in Padder tehsil of the district.

"The case was registered after a probe found that the officials had fraudulently drawn carriage charges of ration between 2005 to 2011 by showing extra distance of carriage, thus, causing a loss of Rs 2,80,000 approximately to the state exchequer by misusing their official position," a spokesman of the department said.
