Cash stolen from bank

Over Rs 22 lakhs was stolen by burglars from the chest of State Bank of India branch in Majhgaon in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district, a senior police officer said today.

The burglars used a gas cutter to open the chest after breaking open a window grill and entered the bank and stole Rs 22.12 lakh) last night, Sub-divisional Police Officer (Jagannathpur), Bertinus Kullu said.

There was no night guard at the bank.

The burglary was noticed after the bank opened today.

A dog squad was brought and fingerprints were taken of the crime scene.

The police were searching for the burglars.
