Castor seed prices were up by Rs 10 to Rs 4,189 per quintal in futures trade today as investors built up new positions in line with rising physical demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, castor seed for the most-traded July contract gained Rs 10, or 0.24 per cent, to Rs 4,189 per quintal in an open interest of 73,690 lots.
Also, the contract for delivery in August inched up by Rs 9, or 0.21 per cent, to Rs 4,236 per quintal showing an open interest of 52,120 lots.
Marketmen said the rise in castor seed prices at futures market was attributed to raising of bets by participants, triggered by a firm trend at the spot markets on strong demand from consuming industries against restricted supplies from growing belts.
