CBI searches at premises of Ranchi University officials

CBI today carried out searches at the residence and official premises of five officers of Ranchi University, including its former Vice-Chancellor and 16 private firms for alleged irregularities in construction works worth Rs nine crore on the varsity campus.

CBI sources said the residence and offices of the then Vice-Chancellor D T Khating, OSD (Projects) N P Garg, Accounts Officer Sita Ram Swarnkar, Civil Engineer Sanjay Kumar Singh and Electrical Engineer A N Tigga were searched as part of the operation.

They said the search operation was spread across 24 locations in Ranchi, Garhwa, Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Shillong.

The searches were conducted in connection with two cases registered by CBI for alleged irregularities committed in the preparation of master plan architectural design of buildings and award of contract for construction of various buildings for the central university campus worth Rs nine crore during 2010-14, the sources said
 

During the searches, seizures, including documents, were made, they said.
