State Cinema Minister K B Ganesh Kumar, in a release here, asked individuals and laboratories who owned prints and rights of old films to hand them over to the academy archive.
The Academy would arrange for digitalisation of the prints and producers and laboratories would not have bear the cost for this. A special section would be started in the Academy for digitalisation, he said.
Negatives of old films, digital copies, beta copies, stills, books of lyrics, discs and notices would be preserved in the archive, which would be helpful to reserachers and academicians, the release said.
