Chana down 1% on sluggish demand

Speculators trimmed positions, driven by subdued demand in the spot market

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Chana prices were down by 0.97% to Rs 3,061 per quintal in futures trade today after speculators trimmed positions, driven by subdued demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chana for delivery in December was trading lower by Rs 30, or 0.97%, to Rs 3,061 per quintal with an open interest of 77,470 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in January next year declined by Rs 24, or 0.77%, to Rs 3,110 per quintal in 51,860 lots.

Market analysts said offloading of positions by speculators amid low demand at spot markets mainly led to the decline in chana prices at futures trade.
