Speculators reduced positions amid a weak trend in spot markets

Chana prices softened by 0.31% to Rs 2,891 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators reduced positions amid a weak trend in spot markets on subdued demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chana for delivery in November traded lower by Rs 9, or 0.31% to Rs 2,891 per quintal with an open interest of 16,530 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in October shed Re 1, or 0.04% to Rs 2,830 per quintal in 4,040 lots.

Market analysts attributed the fall in chana futures to subdued demand in markets against adequate stocks position.
