Chana prices fell by 2.17 per cent to Rs 4,099 per quintal in futures trade today on profit- booking by speculators amid increased arrivals in the market.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chana for July declined by Rs 91, or 2.17 per cent, to Rs 4,099 per quintal with an open interest for 1,48,640 lots.

Similarly, chana for August delivery fell by Rs 63, or 1.46 per cent to Rs 4,247 per quintal with an open interest for 1,16,250 lots.

Traders said besides profit-booking by speculators, subdued demand at the spot market at existing level mainly led to the fall in chana prices at futures trade.
