Charas valued at Rs 4.5 lakh seized from smuggler

Customs department officials today seized charas worth Rs 4.5 lakh from a smuggler in Raxual in East Champaran district of Bihar bordering Nepal.

Acting on a tip off, a Customs team frisked a man at Kodihar outpost in Raxual and seized 8 kg charas worth Rs 4.5 lakh in the international market, Deputy Commissioner of Customs, Santosh Kumar, said.

The man from whom the charas was seized, walked through the border with a bag containing 18 packets of charas, Kumar said adding he was to hand over the consignment to a contact at the bus stand.
