Put into bat, Services placed themselves in a strong position position thanks to Chatterjee's unbeaten 135 which he made from 269 balls with the help of 18 boundaries at the Palam A Ground here.
Openers Chatterjee and Anshul Gupta (43) put on 108 before the latter was caught behind by Sumanth off left-arm seamer Chama Milind.
Milind then removed Amit Pachhara and Rajat Paliwal in quick succession to reduce Services to 134 for 3, but Chatterjee and Yashpal Singh (51 batting) then shared an unbroken 110-run partnership to consolidate the hosts' good start.
