The Punjab government today asked agriculture and cooperative departments to keep a strict vigil on distribution of urea by dealers and cooperative societies to check its hoarding.

Instructions have been issued in this regard by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, an official release said.

The concerned officers were directed to conduct surprise checks so that hoarding and resulting panic in farmers is checked, he further said.

The Chief Minister also took a serious view of media reports suggesting missing of trucks laden with urea in Muktsar district.

Badal passed strict instructions to Muktsar SSP to investigate the case and taking strict action against those involved in illegal activity.
