John had filed the bail application before the court on December 7 stating the investigation in the case was over.

"His (John's) advocate came to the court and said he wanted to withdraw the application and subsequently it was disposed of", said Faiz Merchant who was appearing for the victim.

Merchant had said that they had submitted a written argument to the court and John's lawyer was to reply on it today.

John has not assigned any reason to withdraw his petition.

The 44-year-old film producer had been arrested last month for allegedly flinging a chemical on his ex-girlfriend physiotherapist Aryanka Hosbetkar (26) at her residence in Worli.

According to police, John attacked Aryanka after she ended her relationship with him even as John was ready to divorce his wife.

He was booked for attempt to murder after Aryanka told the police that he wanted to kill her.

In his bail application, John had said Aryanka ditched him though he was willing to file for divorce and she was aware that he was already married and despite that she continued the relationship.
