Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh has announced to establish a new honour after 'Mata Kaushalya', the mother of Lord Rama.

"The state government has decided to establish a new honour after the name of the mother of Lord Rama, 'Mata Kaushalya'," Singh announced yesterday while participating in a discourse at ongoing Rajim Kumbh, nearly 45 kms from here.

The award will be given to selected persons every year during the Rajim Kumbh fair, he said.

Singh said the modalities for the honour are being worked out, and did not elaborate the criteria for qualification.

Local poet Sant Pawan Diwan had recently requested the chief minister in this regard, a government official said today.

Singh also performed ground-breaking ceremony for building a dharamshala for devotees after the name of 'Mata Rajim', at the cost of Rs 1 crore.
