Eight persons including a chief engineer and five other officials of Public Health Engineering department of Jammu and Kashmir were booked for alleged corruption in purchase of pump sets.
The State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) has registered the case after allegation of purchase of pump sets at inflated rates in Jammu.
The case was registered under relevant sections of J-K PC Act 2006 and Section 120-B RPC on prima facie establishment of offences against the six officers and two private persons, a SVO officer said.
"They caused a loss to the state exchequer in purchase of horizontal centrifugal pump-sets on highly exorbitant rates by PHE department, Jammu in the year 2009," he said.
