Chilli, jeera prices soften on subdued demand

Chilli and jeera prices fell Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today owing to subdued demand from retailers and stockists at higher levels amid sufficient stock position.
Chilli prices eased Rs 100 to finish at Rs 8,800-15,300 per quintal.
Jeera common and jeera best quality also fell Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 16,400-16,900 and Rs 20,400-20,900 per quintal.

Marketmen said subdued demand from retailers and stockists at higher levels against sufficient stocks, mainly pulled down chilli and jeera prices.
Following are today's quotations (in Rs):
Ajwain (per kg) 160-190, black pepper (per kg) 630-780, betel-nut (kg) 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,730-1,750 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,980-2,000.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 790-850, cardamom (colour robin) 790-810, cardamom bold 800-820, cardamom extra (bold) 920-970 and cloves 700-800.
