Clerk arrested for taking Rs 10k bribe

A clerk in the Sub-Collector's office here was arrested by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wing police here today for allegedly taking Rs 10,000 as bribe from a widow for providing benefit under a government scheme, police said.
Acting on a complaint by the woman to the DVAC DSP Chandramouli, police laid a trap and arrested Srinivasan while receiving the bribe, they said.
The 45-year-old woman, who lost her husband in a road accident in 2012, had recently applied for getting benefit under the Destitute fund but the clerk demanded Rs 10,000 as bribe for clearing her papers.
