The Lokayukta police today caught a clerk with the Madhya Pradesh Public Works Department while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a contractor for clearing bills for a road construction work.
Gopal Junwal, a senior-grade clerk, was receiving the bribe on behalf of P K Jha, an executive engineer, PWD, said inspector Basant Shrivastava of Lokayukta police here.
"We have arrested Junwal but have yet to arrest Jha, who has been made a co-accused in the case. The complainant contractor had alleged that the executive engineer asked for three percent commission for clearing a bill of Rs 30 lakh," Shrivastava said.

After the contractor approached the Lokayukta police, a trap was laid and Junwal was caught red-handed here, he said.
"A case was registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act against Junwal and Jha," inspector Shrivastava added.
