Tamil Nadu government today announced a Cloud Computing initiative for its departments at an estimated cost of Rs 11.39 crore.
Tamil Nadu State Data Centre was entrusted with creating secured, credible, seamless and shared IT infrastructure for state government departments and cloud computing will help achieve these, a government release said.
The advantages of cloud computing included lesser expenses, better shared infrastructure, low maintenance costs and wider usage area.
Chief Minister Jayalalithaa sanctioned Rs 11.39 crore which will be utilised towards establishing a cloud computing system at the State Data Centre.
