In a bid to incentivise tree plantation across Uttarakhand and expand the green cover, Chief Minister Harish Rawat today asked the Forest department to pay Rs 300 to everyone who plants a tree under a government scheme.
He also said a time frame of three years should be stipulated for total implementation of the scheme 'Hamara Ped Hamara Dhan' (Our Tree, Our Money).
Noting that the scheme will be successful only when more and more people take part in it, the chief minister said it needs to be made more attractive by offering a financial incentive to people who join it.

He said development work should be carried out keeping forest conservation in mind, adding as resources are limited innovative schemes should be devised.
