Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu stressed the importance of planting trees and urged people to plant ten trees each this year to help the state maintain its ecological balance.
After inaugurating a 250-acre site for the Godavari Maha Pushkara Vanam at Deween Cheruvu in Rajanagaram mandal (20 kms from Rajahmundry), he urged the people to plant 50 crore saplings this year.
Presently, the state has a 23 per cent forest cover and a large scale tree plantation alone would help reach the national average of 33 per cent, he said.
He announced that a science museum would be set up in the Nagaravanam at Rajahmundry. Similarly, a Botanical Garden would be arranged here.
