Coal mine flood traps 6 in China

Six persons were trapped today in a coal mine flood in China's northwest Shaanxi province.

A pit of Bandingliangta Coal Mine in Daliuta Township in the resource-rich Shenmu county was flooded, the county government said in a statement.

Of the seven miners working in the pit, only one managed to escape, it said.

Rescuers are still searching for the trapped miners, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
