Coast Guard Interceptor decommissioned

Indian Coast Guard interceptor boat C-134 was decommissioned at the Naval Base here today.

The ship was decommissioned by by DIG TKS Chandran, Commander Coast Guard District Headquarters No 4 (Kerala and Mahe), in presence of its crew and other senior officers.

The ship, designed by M/s Anderson Marine Pvt Ltd Zorinto Goa, was commissioned in the Coast Guard service in 1994 and was based at Goa initially and then shifted to Vizhinjam, Kerala on November 11, 2013, a release said here.

It was actively involved in humanitarian assistance, SAR operations and apprehending smugglers and poachers,it said.

The Commanding Officer of the ship was awarded with Tatrakshak Medal for Gallantry on August 15, 2012 for rescue operations along the coast of Kerala and was accredited by Coast Guard Commander (Western Seaboard) as "The Most Swift Ship of Western Region" in 2014.
 

The boat was being commanded by Deputy Commandant Praveen Kumar S.
