Six fishermen stranded in mid sea in the Bay of Bengal after the engine room of their boat was flooded were rescued by the Coast Guard today.
A Coast Guard hovercraft on surveillance rescued the crew and their fishing boat, an official release said.
Another Coast Guard vessel was brought in to service the boat and the water in the engine room was pumped out, it said.
The Coast Guard at Mandapam was alerted for the safe passage of the boat, which reached the harbour this afternoon, the release said.
