Cold weather prevails in Pb, Hry;Ludhiana shivers at 2.9 deg C

Cold conditions persisted in most parts of Punjab and Haryana today with Ludhiana experiencing a low of 2.9 degrees Celsius.
Ludhiana was the coldest place in the two states and its minimum settled two notches below normal, according to a MeT Department report here.
Amritsar also experienced a cold night at 3 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal, while Patiala recorded a minimum temperature of 5.7 degrees Celsius.

In Haryana, piercing cold wave swept Karnal and Hisar, where the mercury plunged to 4 and 4.5 degrees Celsius, respectively. Narnaul also shivered at a low of 3.7 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal. Ambala recorded a low of 7.7 degrees Celsius.
While night temperatures hovered below normal levels across Punjab and Haryana, day temperatures witnessed marginal increase in the past week, MeT officials said.
