Oral care products maker Colgate Palmolive today announced the opening of a toothbrush manufacturing unit at Chittor, Andhra Pradesh.
The unit situated at Sricity in Chittor district will have an installed capacity to produce 220 million pieces of toothbrushes by the end of the year, Colgate Palmolive India informed the BSE.
The plant would commence production from April 1, it further added.

In a separate filing, Colgate Palmolive said that it would start paying full taxes, including excise and income tax, for its oral manufacturing unit at Baddi from FY 2015-16 as 10 years exemption granted by the government has come to an end.
"... Excise benefits will expire on April 21, 2015 and accordingly the company will pay all applicable excise duties on the product manufactured from the Baddi facility," the filing said.
It further said income tax benefits will expire on March 31, 2015 and from financial year 2015-16 onwards, the company will pay applicable income tax on the profits generated from the said facility.
The company said it continued to manufacture its oral care products from the Baddi facility.
Colgate Palmolive had set up a plant in Baddi in April 2005 to manufacture of oral care products, which was entitled for certain fiscal benefits for 10 years pursuant to the Industrial Policy of the Government of Himachal Pradesh.
The company's shares ended at Rs 2,024.85 apiece on the BSE, up 1.16 per cent from previous close.
