Commission term extended

The Assam government has

extended the term of the one-man Commission inquiring into the circumstances leading to the killing of an young girl by suspected NDFB extremists in Chirang district last year for four months.

The state government issued a notification on September 14 last extending the term of the Commission of Inquiry headed by Justice (Retd) B D Agarwal by four months, an official release said here today.

The term of the Commission has been extended with effect from August 25 last for four months or till the submission of its report, whichever is earlier, the release added.

The Commission was constituted to inquire into the circumstances leading to the killing of Priya Basumatary by suspected NDFB extremist on August 20, 2014.
