Lok Sabha today witnessed a spat between some Congress and NDA members after Ravneet Singh Bittu (Congress) raised the issue of desecration of holy book Guru Granth Sahib in Punjab and alleged that the SAD-BJP government was taking the state back to dark days of militancy.

Raising the issue during the Zero Hour, he spoke about various recent cases of desecration and also the disappearance of the holy book from a place.

He said the state government had failed to find the missing book and also attacked it for a police firing that left some people dead.

Bittu demanded a probe from a Supreme Court judge into these incidents, accusing the state government of taking Punjab back to the days of militancy.

The lone SAD member present in the House, Sher Singh Ghubaya, vehemently protested his charge and was joined by some BJP members as well. Congress members also shouted back at them, supporting their party colleague Bittu.
