Congress has formed a committee chaired by Delhi unit chief Ajay Maken to oversee preparations for its protests across the city in January as part of a pan- India campaign against "anti-people policies" of the Centre.

AICC general secretary and Delhi in-charge PC Chacko has set up the panel, which includes two co-chairpersons.

Chattar Singh will be the convener of the committee.

Sixteen members of the committee included senior party leaders Sheila Dikshit, Kapil Sibal, Jagdish Tytler, Sajjan Kumar and Sandeep Dikshit.

Karn Singh, Janardan Dwivedi and Parvez Hashmi will be among the nine ex-officio members of the committee.

The pan-India campaign against "anti-people policies" - mainly the sudden move to demonetise high value currency notes on November 8 - of the Narendra Modi government will begin in the first week of January.

Congress has termed the exercise to demonetise Rs 1,000 and old Rs 500 notes a 'deshbandi' (lockdowbn of country).
