About 34 mandals (tehsils) in the district were badly affected by heavy rains, following which a Congress meeting, scheduled for tomorrow, has been postponed, a state minister said this evening.
The meeting, which was to be attended by Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy among others, had been called to express gratitude to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for creation of Telangana state, Civil Supplies Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu told reporters here.
Heavy rains lashed large parts of Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Odisha, claiming 51 lives across the three states.
