Congress MLC in Telangana K Rajagopal Reddy was Friday served a show cause notice by the state unit's Disciplinary Action Committee for his alleged "derogatory remarks" against certain party functionaries.

The Committee, in the show cause notice, said it had once again come to their notice that the MLC had made derogatory remarks against the AICC (in charge of Telangana) General Secretary and also used 'unparliamentary and filthy' language against members of the panel committees of TPCC, appointed by the AICC president on September 19, 2018.

Pointing out that the Congress president (Rahul Gandhi) had directed all party functionaries not to rush to the press making anti-party statements, the notice said that acting on the contrary would attract disciplinary action.

The committee asked Reddy to submit his explanation within two days.

Reddy, a former MP, allegedly made the comments against the in charge of party affairs R C Khuntia and on different party committees announced by AICC for the coming assembly elections in Telangana at a meeting Thursday.

Addressing a gathering here Friday, state Congress president N Uttam Kumar Reddy told party leaders not to violate discipline as elections are round the corner.

Recalling Gandhi's recent directive on maintaining discipline, the PCC president said action would be inevitable if indisciplined comments are made.

Noting that the party should collectively face the elections, he said all sincere workers would get recognition and respect when the party comes to power.
