Congress today approached the Election Commission, alleging that ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal plans to rig polls in Bhawanipore assembly constituency in Kolkata tomorrow from where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is contesting.
In a memorandum to the Commission, Congress alleged that supporters of TMC leaders Madan Mitra and Anubrata Mondal are planning to capture booths in the constituency.
The party also alleged that a number of anti-social elements are terrorising people and urged the poll watchdog to deploy central forces to ensure a free and fair election.
A number of political heavyweights are in the fray in the fifth phase of West Bengal Assembly poll tomorrow. Congress leader Deepa Dasmunshi is pitted against Banerjee in Bhwanipore.
