Cong seeks shifting of senior police officer

Congress today sought transfer of Amritsar's Senior Superintendent of Police (Rural) for allegedly working in favour of BJP candidate Arun Jaitley.

In a complaint to Chief Election Commissioner V K Singh, the party charged SSP Gurpreet Singh Gill with influencing his juniors to force voters in favour of Jaitley.

Rana Gurjit Singh, election incharge of Congress candidate Amarinder Singh, said they had "proof" that Gill was "forcing" his juniors to influence voters in the district.

"This was not the first time this had been done. It had been brought to the notice of the authorities earlier too but to no avail," Singh said.
