Criticising the alleged failure of the administration in providing PDS ration cards to deserving people, the Kendrapara district unit of the Congress today staged dharna in front of district collector's office here.
The poor people are deprived of ration cards entitled under the National Food Security Act, the protesters alleged.
"The administration is dragging its feet in expediting the card distribution process as the poor people are being denied of subsidised ration," alleged Congress leader and Aul MLA Debendra Sharma.

He also alleged that the PDS retailers and dealers in the rural pockets were not supplying rice, kerosene and other items to a large number of ration card holders and diverting the commodities to open market. Authorities concerned were watching silently, he alleged.
Kanhu Charna Dhir the sub-collector of Kendrapara said "The administration is in receipt of written allegations about PDS. The authorities will take proper action after conducting an enquiry".
