Congress leader and Maharashtra Legislative Council member Manikrao Thakre today moved a breach of privilege motion against the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the upper house of state legislature.

Thakre alleged that Fadnavis, in a speech made in the Assembly on Monday, made allegations about Thakre' delay in starting a cotton yarn spinning mill in Yavatmal.

Fadnavis had said that Thakre got approval from the government to establish the mill in 1991, and it would have benefited the cotton farmers of the region which is now the worst-hit by the agrarian crisis.

However, Thakre could not set up the mill for over two decades, the CM said.

Thakre today said that "there was delay due to various reasons, but Fadnavis, in his speech, said I was running my house using the interest over the seed capital collected for the mill.

"He made these allegations in my absence, which is an insult to this house," the Congress leader added.

Fadnavis has denied making the allegations.

Chairman of the Council Ramraje Nimbalkar said he will call for more information and decide whether to admit the motion or not.
