Congress student union Chhatra Parishad has called a strike to protest against the death of student, whom it said was a party activist, in West Midnapore district tomorrow.
"State Chatra Parishad has declared student strike tomorrow against the murder of the student leader Krishna Prasad Jana in Sabong college by goons of TMC's students union," State Congress leader Uravashi Bhattachraya said.
Jana, a third year BA student, was beaten to death during a clash between student unions of Congress and Trinamool Congress over felicitation to West Bengal minister Soumen Kumar Mahapatra at Sabang College at Sabang in West Midnapore district.
He was beaten allegedly with sticks and bamboos and fatally injured in the clash. He died on his way to the hospital, police said.
Both Chhatra Parishad and Trinamool Congress Chhatra PArishad have claimed that Jana was their member.
