Constable booked for driving pregnant wife to suicide

The couple, who had got married six months ago, had a quarrel over some issue at their Gholai Nagar residence yesterday following which the woman allegedly set herself on fire.

The woman, Archana Hivre (23), who was reportedly pregnant, succumbed to her burns on the spot, Kalwa police said.

Her husband, Sriram Hivre (26), has been booked under section 304B (dowry death) of the IPC and further investigation was on, police said.

The deceased's family alleged that she was forced to end her life following demand of dowry by her husband, they added.
