Constable killed in accidental fire from his service weapon

A constable died today after he accidentally shot himself with his own service weapon in Bihar's Gaya district, a police officer said.

Constable Dilip Kumar (29) was having his breakfast with other police personnel on the roof of the DIG office in Civil Lines area when he accidentally pressed trigger of an AK-47 assault rifle on himself while receiving a call on his mobile phone, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nishant Kumar Tiwari said.

The bullet passed through Kumar's head after piercing his neck, the SSP said, adding the injured constable was rushed to the Magadh Medical College where the attending doctors declared him brought dead.
 

A native of Ahiyapur village under Konch police station area of Gaya district, the deceased Constable was a member of Arwal district police force and deployed as security guard of the Magadh Range DIG Bachchu Singh Meena, the SSP said.
