Construction worker arrested for murder

A construction worker from Naigaon in Vasai was arrested on charges of murdering his co-worker after the victim succumbed to injuries at a hospital here.

Sr PI Narayan Patil of Waliv Police station told PTI that victim Raju B Jetravat (24), who was hospitalised after the incident on October 26, died on November 19.

Following his death, police registered an offence under section 302 of the IPC and arrested accused Abdul Rehaman Mulla (29) last night.

The murder took place when the victim and his wife were quarrelling over some issue and the accused intervened to resolve the matter.

Subsequently an altercation broke out, and during the melee, Mulla is alleged to have hit the victim hard leaving him seriously injured after which he was rushed to a local hospital, police said.
 

Further investigations are underway, they added.
