A contraband smuggler was arrested today with one kg brown sugar from the Indo-Nepal border in Bihar's East Champaran district, official sources said.
Acting on a tip off, the SSB sleuths nabbed the smuggler, identified as Nawal Kishore Prasad, with one kg brown sugar worth Rs one crore in international market, a SSB officer said.
Prasad, a native of the district, had brought the contraband consignment from Manipur to deliver the same to clients in Birganj (Nepal), the officer said.
Rs 3000 in cash and a mobile phone was also seized from the smuggler, the sources said, adding that he was being interrogated by the SSB officials at its border post at Pankota.
